| Soprano Nancy Curtis enjoys a multifaceted career as a singer of opera, oratorio, symphonic repertoire, and recitals. Nancy's commitment to her artistry has drawn praise from colleagues, audiences, and critics alike, and she is in demand as a vocalist and teacher. An honors graduate from Baylor University, Ms. Curtis has studied at the Verdi Conservatory in Milan, Italy, the Dante Alghieri School in Florence, Italy and the Goethe Institute in Rothenburg, Germany. Hailed as a "stand-out", Ms. Curtis has been presented as the soprano soloist with many outstanding symphony orchestras including the Austin Symphony, the Maryland Symphony, the Virginia Symphony, the Arkansas Symphony, the Santa Fe Symphony, the San Antonio Symphony, the Abilene Philharmonic, the Tulsa Philharmonic and Ballet as well as the Houston Masterworks Chorus, the Victoria Bach Festival, the Midland-Odessa Symphony, Early Music Southwest, the Houston Choral Society, the Mercury Baroque Ensemble, and the International Festival Institute at Round Top. This highly versatile singer also enjoys an active opera career. She has been featured with opera companies including the Virginia Opera, the Tulsa Opera, the New York City Opera, Houston Grand Opera, Skylight Opera Theatre, the Tacoma Opera, the American Festival for the Arts, Opera Rimini, Ars Lyrica, the Monteux Opera Festival, the St. Cecilia Chamber Society Opera Series, and the Lyric Opera of San Antonio. As a winner of the prestigious Enrico Caruso International Vocal Competition, Ms. Curtis was invited to sing concerts in Italy including an appearance at La Scala. She has been invited to sing for many of our nation's leaders including former Presidents George Bush, Bill Clinton, Ronald Reagan, and Texas Governor Rick Perry. She has also had the privilege of singing our National Anthem for the Houston Texans, the Houston Rockets, and Houston Comets and was recently honored to sing for the national commissioning of the USS Texas featuring former First Lady, Laura Bush. Ms. Curtis is also an active member of Conspirare, the Grammy nominated and internationally acclaimed choral group based in Austin, TX. As a member of this outstanding ensemble, Nancy has been featured on a nationally televised PBS special as well as internationally released recordings on the Harmonia Mundi label. Upcoming performances include the musical title role in "Camille Claudel" with the Dominic Walsh Dance Company, the soprano soloist in Beethoven's "Mass in C" with the Houston Choral Society, Beethoven's "Missa Solemnis" with the Victoria Bach Festival and of a recording of Rachmaninoff's "All Night Vigil" with Conspirare on the Harmonia Mundi Label. But of all the wonderful experiences she has had, her favorite role is being a mom. Nancy lives in Houston, TX with her husband, Ryan, and two sons, Ashton and R.J. |
